Frozen Strawberry and Pomegranate Bellini

Updated: Dec 25, 2018

I am not a big drinker when it comes to alcoholic drinks. I never was into drinking alcohol since the taste is too strong for me. If I am at an event or get together where there is alcohol being served, I usually avoid it and drink something else. If I decide to have a drink then I would usually have a fruity mixed drink. The only problem with those alcoholic fruity mixed drinks is that they are filled with empty calories and contain too much sugar and artificial ingredients. True they are convenient since all you need to do is add the alcohol to the mix and you have a drink ready in under 2 minutes. But is that convenience worth compromising your health?

If you decide to have a mixed alcoholic drink, you should make sure you know what ingredients are going into your glass. Reading the ingredients label on the back of any premixed bottle is a start. If you any see any ingredients that you can't pronounce or don't know exactly what it is, it's safe to say that you should avoid them. Instead of buying the pre-made drink mixes you can easily make the same drinks at home naturally.

I came up with this frozen strawberry and pomegranate bellini after tasting a similar drink at a restaurant. This one contains only a few ingredients such as fresh strawberries, pomegranate juice, prosecco and ice. This drink may contain alcohol but no artificial ingredients just fresh ones. The strawberries and pomegranate juice give the bellini a natural sweet and fruity flavor and doesn't need any extra sweeteners in it. The fruit also adds vitamins and minerals where as the regular drink mixes do not.

The prosecco gives the bellini a bubbly fizz that will tickle your mouth. This bellini can also be made into a non-alcoholic version by substituting the prosecco with some unflavored sparkling water. You'll still get the fizz but without the buzz.
